Several dozen Russian servicemen currently remain blocked inside the city of Kupiansk. They are cut off from the main occupying forces, and their supply via UAVs is limited and critically insufficient for the enemy.
“The clearing of Kupiansk is ongoing. Despite the raising of the flag, it has not yet been fully completed, although it is in its final stage. There are still around several dozen Russian soldiers remaining in the city, and Ukrainian forces are clearing them out”, — he said.
Combat operations are being conducted with maximum caution to prevent losses among Defense Forces personnel and civilians remaining in the city.
“Various Ukrainian units are working to inflict fire damage on the Russians directly within the city, while trying not to lose a single Ukrainian serviceman or a single Ukrainian civilian”, — the spokesperson explained.
Viktor Trehubov suggested that the process of clearing Kupiansk will be fully completed soon, as the Russians are not receiving reinforcements and supplies of ammunition and food to the blocked occupiers are limited.
“We hope this is a process that will not last much longer. Since the Russians have no reinforcements and have problems with supplies, they can certainly hold out there for some time, but hardly for any significant period”, — the officer said.
He emphasized that such a favorable situation for the Defense Forces became possible because the blocked Russian occupiers were completely cut off from the main forces of the Russian army.
“These forces were simply severed from any direct connection with other Russian units, so that Kupiansk effectively found itself in full encirclement by Ukrainian troops, and they could not receive reinforcements in any way except via an air bridge”, — Viktor Trehubov explained.
At the same time, supplying the encircled Russian soldiers via UAVs is incapable of significantly affecting their fate.
“You cannot receive personnel through an air bridge — you can receive ammunition and food, and even that in limited quantities. Especially now, given the weather, which is often simply unsuitable for flying — drones cannot always operate at all. As a result, there are serious problems and disruptions even with ammunition or food supplies. Not to mention that when they drop them, we also see exactly where they are dropped”, — the Joint Forces spokesperson said.
