Ukraine is launching a new instrument of systemic support for the defense industry. The state is allocating 1 billion hryvnias for partial compensation of interest on loans and leasing for enterprises of the defense-industrial complex.
This was announced by Ukraine’s Minister of Defense, Denys Shmyhal.
According to him, the decision will enable Ukrainian weapons manufacturers to scale up production, invest in modern equipment, and accelerate the transition from development to serial production of weapons.
The preferential lending program provides financing of up to UAH 100 million for working capital for up to three years and up to UAH 500 million for investment projects for up to five years. The effective interest rate for enterprises will be 5% per annum, with the remainder compensated by the state.
A preferential financial leasing program for defense industry enterprises has also been introduced — also at 5% per annum. It allows production capacities to be upgraded without critical strain on company budgets.
The Ministry of Defense emphasizes that strengthening the defense-industrial complex is one of the key elements in building a resilient defense economy and the foundation for stable provision of Ukrainian-made weapons to the Defense Forces.
