No movements of surface combat ships or submarines of the Russian Black Sea Fleet beyond their basing points are currently observed.
This was stated live on the national telethon “United News” by Captain 2nd Rank Dmytro Pletenchuk, spokesperson of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Due to the threat of attacks by Ukrainian naval drones, the enemy does not dare to act actively and has minimized its presence in the waters of the Black and Azov Seas. This has allowed Ukraine to ensure the stable operation of the Grain Corridor for more than two years.
“At present, no deployments or use of Russian combat units or submarines are observed. Aviation, unfortunately, remains active as always. Most likely, from the territory of temporarily occupied Crimea, the Russians once again used a ballistic missile”, — he said.
The enemy has minimized the deployment of its ships in the waters of the Azov Sea and does not dare to act actively in an attempt to implement a naval blockade of Ukraine.
“Of course, they clearly understand the threats they face. And despite last year’s rhetoric of the Russian dictator about creating conditions for a maritime blockade of Ukraine, which he mentioned in one of his interviews, they do not dare to go to sea to carry out such actions or to use their fleet fully as it was supposed to operate”, — Dmytro Pletenchuk noted.
The main reason for such actions by the Russian fleet is the threat posed by unmanned systems of the Defense Forces of Ukraine, from which enemy ships cannot protect themselves either in open sea or at permanent basing points.
The neutralization of the enemy’s Black Sea Fleet has allowed Ukraine to establish stable and relatively safe operation of the Grain Corridor.
“For more than two years now, this process has been ongoing. This is more than 6,500 vessels in total and over 150 million tons of cargo. Mostly this is grain — Ukrainian grain that can indeed feed many countries and is a matter of food security for certain regions.
So yes, we are working despite what the Russians are trying to do. But I can assure you that our enemy periodically receives a response as well”, — the Navy spokesperson emphasized.
