Over the past week, the enemy has attacked civilian vessels in the Black Sea for the second time. Commercial vessels flying foreign flags operating within the maritime corridor were hit.
This was reported by the Head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, on January 12.
The first strike UAV hit a vessel flying the Panamanian flag that was in a waiting area and heading to the port of Chornomorsk to load oil.
“A hit to the vessel’s superstructure was recorded, without subsequent fire. Unfortunately, one crew member sustained severe injuries and was promptly evacuated by the Ukrainian Navy to the port of Odesa, where he received the necessary medical care”, — the statement says.
The second strike was carried out against a bulk carrier flying the flag of San Marino that was departing the waiting area.
“The fire was promptly localized. Fortunately, no one was injured. These attacks once again confirm that Russia deliberately targets civilian shipping, grossly violating international humanitarian law and posing a threat to global food security”, — Oleh Kiper noted.
The enemy is attempting to develop the production of naval drones and copy successful Ukrainian practices — both technical solutions and tactics.
