“Air Defense missiles are needed every day”: President appeals to partners after Russia’s night attack

On the night before today, Russian forces carried out one of the most massive combined attacks on Ukraine, using nearly 300 strike UAVs, as well as ballistic and cruise missiles. The primary target once again was energy infrastructure.

This was reported by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

According to the head of state, nearly 300 strike drones — most of them Shaheds — as well as 18 ballistic and 7 cruise missiles were launched at Ukraine. Generation facilities and substations were the main targets.

As a result of the attack, numerous destructions of residential and civilian infrastructure were recorded. The Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, Odesa, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Donetsk regions were under attack.

The President separately reported a missile strike on a postal terminal in Korotych, Kharkiv Oblast, which had no military purpose. Four people were killed as a result of the shelling.

The most difficult situation, according to him, is in Kyiv Oblast, where several hundred thousand households were left without electricity. All emergency services are working on site, and Points of Invincibility have been deployed.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that each such strike against civilians is a direct reminder of the need for constant international support for Ukraine — first and foremost air defense missiles, which are needed daily, especially during the winter period.

The President stressed that Ukraine expects an acceleration of deliveries of already approved aid packages from the United States and European partners.

“Russia must understand that cold will not help it win this war”, — the head of state noted.
