In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian artillery units conduct regular counter-battery warfare and actively take part in destroying the positions of enemy UAV operators.
This was stated during an Army TV stream by Captain Ivan Harapko, Senior Officer of the Communications Section of the 45th Separate Artillery Brigade named after General Myron Tarnavskyi.
“Regular work is being carried out against enemy artillery. When aerial reconnaissance is possible, we locate enemy positions and strike them. This happened several times over the past month”, — he said.
At the same time, confirming the destruction of an enemy artillery system is easier than identifying its exact type.
“It is extremely difficult to say exactly what we hit, because the enemy is well camouflaged, and determining what kind of system it was is almost impossible. One can only make assumptions based on the barrel length or the muzzle brake. But yes, counter-battery warfare is ongoing, and the enemy is being destroyed”, — he explained.
Artillery units also strike positions of enemy UAV operators, although this task is primarily carried out by Ukrainian drone units.
“We use artillery when we manage to find launch points. But this is mostly the work of our drone units. It is more interesting for them; it is a challenge for them — to destroy enemy ‘drone operators,’ and they do this more often. However, if there is an opportunity to involve artillery, we also engage artillery in this task”, — said ‘Dimas.’
