In the first days of the new year 2026, Ukrainian soldiers captured two Russians on the Kupiansk axis. The prisoners claim they did not fire at Ukrainian defenders and were merely digging trenches.
This was stated on an Army TV stream by Major Nadiia Zamryha, Head of the Communications Section of the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Roman the Great.
According to the prisoners, they went to war solely for money. Moreover, during their surrender, the enemy infantrymen were targeted by their own drone.
“The exchange fund is ‘plus two.’ Their situations are absolutely identical — financial problems. Before signing the contract, they lacked money, which is why they signed it”, — Zamryha said.
The captured Russians also assured that they had not killed any Ukrainian defenders.
“They were very insistent that they had not killed any Ukrainian soldiers, that they were just digging trenches and so on. We know this story, this legend. But the fact that, during their surrender, their own drone tried to destroy them is clearly recorded on video”, — Zamryha added.
