Serhiy Mykolayovych Smolyak — the medic killed by Russians in Kyiv this night — was 56 years old.
This was reported on January 9 by the Ministry of Health.
“When the emergency medical and disaster medicine team arrived at the site of a residential building shelling, the terrorists struck again. Serhiy Smolyak died on the spot. Four more medical personnel were injured.
In total, four people died in the capital this night, 24 were injured. 16 people were hospitalized; others received on-site assistance. Among the injured were also five rescuers.
The most significant damage was to houses and other civilian facilities in four districts — shopping center, sanatorium, playground in a residential courtyard, etc.
Critical infrastructure was damaged. Some areas experienced interruptions in electricity and water supply.
We express our condolences to all who lost relatives, friends, colleagues, homes this night. Medics cannot be targets, people cannot be targets”, — the MoH stated.
