President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that a new large-scale Russian strike may occur tonight.

The Head of State said this on January 8 in his address.

“Dnipro region, Zaporizhzhia — after the attack on infrastructure, the situation with electricity and all supplies was extremely difficult. The necessary resources have been mobilized. Unfortunately, there were also new strikes today — specifically against the energy sector and the civilian sector; in Kryvyi Rih — against residential buildings”, — the statement reads.

In Zaporizhzhia region, power supply was restored during the day according to schedules. Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, Nikopol, Pavlohrad, and other cities and communities of Dnipropetrovsk region are still being worked on.

“It is extremely important to pay attention to air raid alerts today, tomorrow — constantly — and to go to shelters. The Russians remain unchanged; they are trying to exploit the weather. I instructed the government to assist local authorities as much as possible, and to support everyone involved”, — the President said.

In addition, he signed decrees appointing heads of Poltava, Chernivtsi, Vinnytsia, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

The Head of State also spoke with NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov. The negotiating team is returning to Ukraine.

“I expect a report with all the details, including those that cannot be discussed over the phone. There were various formats of meetings — with the American team and with the European team. The security guarantees agreement with America, we believe, is ready to be signed at the highest level. It is important that in a trilateral format we discussed documents on Ukraine’s recovery and economic development — Ukraine, America, Europe. They are almost ready.

We worked very substantively on the main political document, and from our side there was full constructiveness. The American team must receive a response from Russia regarding what they are ready for and whether they truly can end the war. We believe that only pressure will resolve this — pressure on Russia, and only if it is sufficient”, — Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated.
