The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine presented the first edition of the Technical Almanac on Mine Action, “Machines, Sensors, Underwater Systems, and Personnel Protection”.
This was reported on the MoD website.
Such a guide is being published in Ukraine for the first time. The publication has a practical sectoral focus and is intended to become a support tool for mine action operators, experts, and government authorities.
The almanac was prepared within the framework of the activities of the Main Directorate for Mine Action, Civil Protection, and Environmental Safety. It is considered the basis for forming regular sectoral reviews oriented toward the real needs of mine action operators.
The publication summarizes practical experience in humanitarian demining under conditions of full-scale war and contains a systematized overview of modern technologies: specialized machines, sensor and underwater systems, personal protective equipment, as well as approaches to quality control and environmental safety.
Unlike purely analytical reports, the guide is designed for practical use — from selecting optimal technical solutions in specific field conditions to assessing the impact of demining on soil, water resources, and subsequent land restoration.
Special attention is given to:
The guide is open to further development and expansion and aims to become a practical navigation tool in the demining processes of Ukraine.
“Subsequent editions will be developed with the involvement of equipment and technology manufacturers, mine action operators, and the expert community. We are open to practical solutions tested in real conditions and are interested in ensuring that the demining sector develops based on verified data rather than declarations”, — said Colonel Ruslan Berehulia, Head of the Main Directorate for Mine Action, Civil Protection, and Environmental Safety.
