Fierce fighting is ongoing in Huliaipole and does not stop. The enemy is trying to gain a foothold in the settlement and push out Ukrainian defenders.
This was stated on the United News national telethon by Colonel Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine.
“We had a grim record over the past day — 65 combat engagements. Twenty-five engagements took place in Huliaipole, 20 in the northern suburb — the settlement of Varvarivka. Several more occurred near the settlement of Zaliznychne”, — Vladyslav Voloshyn said.
He emphasized that Ukrainian positions are present across almost the entire city, and assault groups are operating, conducting strike-and-search actions.
“Huliaipole is now a large gray zone where street fighting is taking place, and the situation is quite difficult. According to our intelligence, during the fighting for Huliaipole, the enemy has rotated two groupings of its troops from several brigades. Over the past month, it has lost more than 10,000 servicemen on the southern axes, and 70% of those losses occurred in Huliaipole and surrounding settlements”, — the spokesperson said.
He added that over the past two to three days, the enemy received an additional 1,600 rounds of ammunition of various calibers to support assault operations with fire.
