Svitlana “Phoenix” Hotsyk, commander of a UAV platoon of the 91st Separate Anti-Tank Battalion, is carrying out combat missions in the Oleksandrivka direction.
She spoke about her combat path during the United News telethon.
“I have been at war for the fourth year already. I immediately went into flying drones, starting as a soldier and progressing to platoon commander. At one point, I transferred from another brigade to follow my commander. A good commander must take care of their personnel — training, logistics, support, and so on”, — Svitlana Hotsyk said.
Currently, her unit is carrying out combat missions in the Oleksandrivka direction.
“In our sector, the enemy uses weather conditions — snow and fog. Recently, there was an enemy assault involving eight units of equipment. But thanks to drones, we repelled this attack”, — the platoon commander noted.
“Phoenix” said that the enemy traditionally operates in small groups, accumulates forces, and waits for the moment to launch assault actions.
To detect and counter such enemy groups, FPV drones are constantly used. UAVs are also used for reconnaissance and delivery of everything necessary to Ukrainian positions.
“The situation at the front changed significantly last year. The enemy now has a very large number of ‘loitering’ drones. Overall, it has become harder to bring personnel to and from positions due to the large number of drones. But we are not falling behind — we are constantly developing and restraining the enemy”, — Svitlana Hotsyk emphasized.
