Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine General Oleksandr Syrskyi held a meeting dedicated to countering enemy strike UAVs and strengthening air defense.
The Commander-in-Chief reported this on social media.
The aggressor state has not abandoned its intentions to seize Ukrainian territory and continues massive strikes against Ukraine using aerial attack means.
Under these conditions, the key task of the Defense Forces remains the destruction of the enemy and effective counteraction to daily and nightly attacks, particularly by kamikaze drones.
According to Oleksandr Syrskyi, Ukraine’s practical results in strengthening defense and military positions also create the basis for successful diplomatic work. At the same time, countering unmanned threats requires a comprehensive approach and coordinated interaction of all components of the Defense Forces.
During the meeting, reports were heard from the commander of the newly created air defense unmanned systems, representatives of the Air Force, the Unmanned Systems Forces, Army Aviation, the Air Defense of the Ground Forces, the Logistics Forces, and other military command bodies.
The Commander-in-Chief emphasized that at the current stage, the priority is the development of interceptor UAVs. This includes increasing the number of such drones, ground stations, and radar assets, as well as expanding the volume and quality of crew training.
According to the Commander-in-Chief, interception lines are already being created at a certain distance from major cities within the layered air defense system. The number of interceptor UAV engagements is gradually increasing along with their effectiveness.
At the same time, Oleksandr Syrskyi stressed the need to intensify this work, accelerate the procurement of weapons and equipment, and strengthen the manning of relevant units.
In addition, the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to form separate air defense UAV divisions and create штатні interceptor UAV units within training centers. Additional resources from army and light aviation are being involved to strengthen counteraction against Shaheds, along with support from international partners.
Problematic issues and ways to address them were also discussed during the meeting.
Oleksandr Syrskyi noted that the enemy is adapting, using weather conditions, modernizing strike drones, and changing tactics, including attacks at extremely low altitudes. In response, the Defense Forces are improving their countermeasures and adjusting the protection system to achieve the required results.
The Commander-in-Chief thanked all servicemembers and units that effectively carry out air defense missions, as well as everyone involved in strengthening Ukraine’s protection.
