The validation of a specialized computer program for Food Service Process Management (SCPS FSM) has begun. It is being tested under real-world conditions to prepare it for large-scale use.

This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

What this program is

SCPS FSM is a tool that automates food supply management in military units.

In particular, the program enables users to:

  • keep records of food products in units;

  • generate supply requests;

  • compile menus;

  • automatically generate reports on food consumption.

Who will use the program

The users of SCPS FSM are heads of food services. These are servicemembers responsible for ensuring that the personnel of their unit are provided with high-quality meals on time and in accordance with established standards.

They plan meals, keep product records, generate supply requests, and report on their use. The daily operational capability of a unit directly depends on their work.

Why validation is needed

The purpose of validation is to verify that the program functions correctly in real conditions, meets the needs of the food service, and fully covers the defined processes — from product accounting to reporting.

This will make it possible to ensure that the solution is ready for full-scale use in the Armed Forces.

Who developed and implements the program

The program was developed by servicemembers of the Technology Solutions Scaling Center.

The customer and administrator is the Logistics Forces Command, while coordination is provided by the Ministry of Defense’s Center for the Transformation of Defense Resource Management Processes.

What the Ministry of Defense and the Command say

“For the first time, the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces have developed a separate validation process for a computer program, and it will be tested in accordance with global standards. SCPS FSM is compatible with the DOT-Chain system and the Logistics Support Management system. This is an important component of the unified digital logistics ecosystem of the Armed Forces”, — emphasized Oksana Ferchuk, Deputy Minister of Defense for Digital Development, Digital Transformation, and Digitalization.

“For us, it is important to have a tool that actually works in units. Program validation allows us to test it in practice at all stages, fine-tune the processes, and only after that scale the solution. Ultimately, SCPS FSM should become the foundation for modern, managed, and effective food supply for the Armed Forces”, — said Hennadii Bizhan, Head of the Rear Services of the Logistics Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

What’s next

After the validation is completed, the program is planned to be integrated into the digital ecosystem of the Armed Forces and implemented in all military units. In the future, this validation approach is planned to be scaled to other programs and information systems as well.

Preparing SCPS FSM for implementation is another step in the digitalization of logistics of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, making the supply of the Ukrainian military faster, more accurate, and more transparent.
