Ukraine’s Minister of Defense Denys Shmyhal held a telephone conversation with Sweden’s Minister of Defense Pål Jonson.

During the talks, the parties discussed in detail cooperation in strengthening Ukraine’s aviation capabilities, in particular the issue of supplying Gripen combat aircraft.
According to the Head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, preparations are underway to begin training Ukrainian pilots and technical personnel to operate these aircraft.
Denys Shmyhal also informed his Swedish counterpart about the massive Russian air attack overnight on Tuesday. He noted that Ukrainian F-16 fighters destroyed the vast majority of the 35 enemy cruise missiles.
The Minister of Defense of Ukraine highlighted Sweden’s significant contribution to strengthening the aviation capabilities of the Defense Forces and thanked Sweden for its support, emphasizing the importance of further close cooperation in this area.
In addition, the Swedish side reported plans to announce a new air defense assistance package for Ukraine in the near future.
