During a trip to Zaporizhzhia Oblast, Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal heard a report from the head of the State Special Transport Service, Major General Oleksandr Yakovets, on the construction of fortifications in Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Sumy, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, and Kyiv oblasts.
The Minister reported this on the morning of December 20.
According to him, the State Special Transport Service has already built 2,130 platoon strongpoints, more than 3,000 km of anti-tank ditches, over 1,000 km of obstacle pyramids, 16,000 km of “Yegoza” barrier lines, and 4,300 km of low-visibility obstacles.
“I thank the State Special Transport Service for its coordinated work. It is necessary to further increase the pace of fortification construction and improve building technologies, as this is an important line of Ukraine’s defense capability”, — Denys Shmyhal noted.
