In Warsaw, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk.
This became known in the evening of December 19.
The Head of State thanked Poland for its significant support of Ukraine from the very beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
“We counted on and continue to count on your support, and we are grateful for our unity”, — Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
The leaders noted the European Council’s decision to provide Ukraine with financial support from the European Union amounting to €90 billion for 2026–2027.
“You have strengthened Ukraine, our soldiers and civilians, by the way. And I believe that Europe has demonstrated leadership, and this is a very important and firm, strong position.
Thank you for supporting us, that is, for Poland supporting us, and for the fact that we heard your voice and your messages without any, you know, balancing between right or wrong decisions. So thank you sincerely”, — the President said.
Donald Tusk also noted that Ukraine’s struggle for its independence is a shared struggle for all of Europe.
“It is the aggressor who must fully pay for all damage and losses, and that is precisely why we, as you know, are also finally freezing Russian assets. And I am absolutely confident that now your position regarding Russia is much stronger”, — the Prime Minister of Poland said.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy informed about the situation on the battlefield. Special attention during the meeting was paid to defense assistance to Ukraine. The discussion focused on strengthening Ukraine’s combat aviation and defense projects within the SAFE program, including the joint production of drones.
The President and the Prime Minister also discussed diplomatic contacts with the American side to achieve a just peace and Europe’s participation in this process.
Among other topics discussed during the meeting were economic cooperation and joint infrastructure projects that can be implemented as part of Ukraine’s recovery.
