In Warsaw, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with the Marshal of the Polish Senate, Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, during which they discussed cooperation with the U.S. Congress and the importance of transatlantic unity on sanctions and on recognizing Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism.
This was reported by the Office of the President on December 19.
The Head of State expressed gratitude for Poland’s principled stance on Ukraine’s territorial integrity, effective cooperation with the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and support for Ukrainian initiatives, in particular those related to the return of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also spoke about diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace.
Historical memory issues were discussed separately. The parties noted that this process is moving forward and that there are practical results. On behalf of the Polish side, the Marshal of the Polish Senate thanked the President of Ukraine for the opportunity to honor the memory of their ancestors, who were reburied after exhumations in the village of Puzhnyky in the Ternopil region.
In addition, Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska expressed gratitude for Ukraine’s acceptance of released civilian citizens from Belarus.
