European Union increases sanctions pressure on the aggressor State’s shadow fleet and energy sector
Today, December 18, the European Council announced the imposition of sanctions against 41 vessels of Russia’s shadow fleet.
This was reported by the European Council.
These vessels are banned from accessing ports and from receiving a wide range of services related to maritime transport.
In addition, the government of the United Kingdom imposed additional sanctions against 24 individuals and legal entities linked to Russia.
The list of newly sanctioned companies includes, in particular, Tatneft, RussNeft, Russneftegaz, and NNK-Oil.
The strengthening of sanctions is intended to complicate Russia’s export of energy resources and the use of its shadow fleet, increase logistics and insurance costs, and narrow opportunities to circumvent restrictions, ultimately reducing the Kremlin’s ability to finance the war.
