The 141st Separate Mechanized Brigade has established a unit composed of Colombian volunteers who carry out combat missions and demonstrate effective battlefield performance.

This was reported in an exclusive interview with ArmyInform by the commander of the 141st Separate Mechanized Brigade, Colonel Bohdan Shevchuk.

“At the beginning, we needed eight interpreters for twenty Colombian fighters. And in fact, this is a very difficult issue — finding a Spanish interpreter. But at present, we have assembled a fairly good team”, — the brigade commander said.

According to Bohdan Shevchuk, a core has already been formed from the Colombians who made up the foundation — they have been turned into sergeants, platoon and squad commanders.

“We built this pyramid, and it is very valuable. There is already a pilot project: we want to grant Colombian volunteers citizenship, guide them into higher education, and make officers out of them”, — Bohdan Shevchuk noted.

The commander of the 141st Brigade also gave an example of the skillful actions of one of the Colombian fighters on the battlefield.

“A sergeant commands his group in combat, leads a rotation to a position, and on top of that there was a need to evacuate a wounded soldier… Several FPVs fly in — and the personnel are already morally shaken, saying they won’t be able to complete the task… And then this sergeant says: ‘Commander, may I go there myself?’ And he went, gave the personnel a good dressing-down, evacuated the wounded soldier, and carried out the rotation. That’s how our Colombian sergeants work”, — Bohdan Shevchuk said.
