The Department of Health Care of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine explained the coordination of medical evacuation of wounded servicemembers.
This was stated on air of “Suspilne. News” by Valerii Artemenko, Head of the Medical Care and Medical Evacuation Division of the Ministry of Defense’s Health Care Department.
“Information about a servicemember, first of all a wounded one, and secondly, if they have fallen ill, is transmitted to the medical leadership and reaches the so-called central medical evacuation department, which fully coordinates activities, evacuation, transportation, and provision of care with further treatment, both in large Role 3 and Role 4 hospitals in Ukraine and abroad”, — he said.
According to him, evacuation from the line of contact is carried out individually: in some cases using ground robotic systems, in others using CASEVAC.
“This is very complicated under conditions of a constant aerial threat. Later it becomes somewhat easier when such a wounded person arrives at Role 1, or by the old name, a stabilization point — the situation is different there, medical care is already available, more professional, and further transportation to subsequent stages of evacuation is carried out using specialized vehicles”, — Valerii Artemenko explained.
As he noted, one of the current problems is enemy drones that fly long distances and pose a threat to medical vehicles.
