One servicemember was struck in the jaw with a right fist by the convicted man, while another was run over with a passenger car.
This is how a resident of Kropyvnytskyi reacted to the lawful demands of an officer of the National Police of Ukraine and servicemembers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center (TCR and SS) to present identity documents and military registration papers.
For the attack on AFU servicemembers and the bodily injuries inflicted on them, the citizen of Ukraine was sentenced to five years of imprisonment.
This became known from the verdict of the Fortetskyi District Court of the city of Kropyvnytskyi, which provides information about the perpetrator and details of the case.
The attacker is a Ukrainian citizen with higher education, a native of Kirovohrad, and the head of the public organization “Auto Garage Association ‘Sever’”.
However, neither nationality, nor education, nor social status influenced the Ukrainian citizen’s understanding of the cause-and-effect relationship between the armed attack of the Russian Federation and the need to carry out mobilization measures to replenish the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in order to repel the aggressor.
Seeking to avoid verification of military registration documents, he attacked a TCR and SS servicemember, striking him with his right fist in the jaw area, after which he attempted to flee.
Having run onto the territory of a garage cooperative, the perpetrator got into a Volkswagen Jetta and deliberately struck another TCR and SS servicemember, as a result of which the servicemember sustained serious bodily injuries.
The servicemember who was hit by the car sustained a closed marginal fracture of the head of the left radius, a contused wound of the left elbow joint, abrasions of the soft tissues of the temporal area, torso, and left knee.
After that, the man fled the scene of the crime; however, law enforcement officers identified him and brought him to justice.
The court established that the citizen of Ukraine clearly understood that he was obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine during a special period and foresaw the occurrence of socially dangerous consequences.
His actions were aimed at obstructing the lawful activities of TCR and SS servicemembers and contributed to the disruption of mobilization measures.
The man pleaded guilty and voluntarily agreed to a plea deal with the prosecution. The court found the citizen guilty of committing a criminal offense and sentenced him to five years of imprisonment.
Taking into account the admission of guilt and sincere remorse of the convicted person, the court replaced the five-year prison sentence with a probationary period of 2.5 years.
During this time, the man is obliged to periodically appear for registration with the authorized probation authority and to notify of any change of residence, work, or study.
