The strike by underwater drones on a Black Sea Fleet submarine in Novorossiysk was historic. The day of the attack became a milestone that once again changed the course of this war.

This was stated on the air of Army TV by Dmytro Pletenchuk, spokesperson for the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to him, there have already been many such milestones in the war, and each was preceded by a “similar case.” After each such “case,” the Russian fleet retreated farther and farther from Ukraine’s shores — until it eventually crammed itself into a port in the eastern Black Sea.

“I would like to remind you that once, at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russian surface ships could be seen from high-rise buildings in Odesa, right on the horizon. And now they are forced to hide at their base in Novorossiysk”, — the Navy spokesperson noted.

Currently, Pletenchuk said, the Black Sea Fleet has effectively split into several parts. Those “that are not a pity” — ships and boats that remain in Crimea — and those that were transferred to Novorossiysk. The Novorossiysk contingent can be further divided into two categories: those that can cause harm and those that cannot. Among those that can are Kalibr missile carriers, including three submarines. Now only two remain.

“Submarines for a long time were the main means used to deliver these strikes, because stealth is their advantage. When you see that one has left its base, you understand that it can be used at any moment. You have to stay tense and wait. But as you can see, for quite some time now they have not even been putting them to sea. Most likely, they suspected something. But karma caught up with them”, — Dmytro Pletenchuk concluded.
