The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine held the “Depth of Security — 2025” conference, during which a framework concept for the development of underwater demining in Ukraine was developed.
This was stated in a Ministry of Defense report.
“This decision lays the foundation for the systematic development of underwater demining in Ukraine — a critically important area that must ensure the safety of maritime areas, the restoration of economic activity, and environmental protection under conditions of Russia’s armed aggression”, — the statement said.
Conference participants focused on creating an integrated system for clearing water areas and coastal territories. Specialized expert groups will work in the following areas:
The 2026 work plan identifies the following key tasks:
“Special attention was paid to strengthening international partnerships. Among the priorities are providing expert and technical assistance for developing national capabilities and expanding diver-sapper training programs with the involvement of international instructors”, — the Ministry of Defense noted.
The conference was attended by representatives of the Main Directorate of Mine Action, Civil Protection, and Environmental Safety of the Ministry of Defense, security agencies, mine action experts, specialists of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, international partners, and профиль organizations.
