German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and French President Emmanuel Macron expressed their support for Ukraine following talks with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The German and French leaders wrote about this on X.

“Ukraine’s fate is Europe’s fate. We are here to see how we can step up our efforts. No one should have any doubt: our support will not waver”, — Friedrich Merz assured.

“Ukraine continues to resist Russia’s aggression with exceptional courage. It can count on our support and on our commitment to a just and lasting peace.

Our latest European and American sanctions are weakening the Russian economy: we must continue these efforts and maintain pressure.

The E3 meeting in London with President Zelenskyy also helped us move forward on the path toward a just and lasting peace.

We will continue to closely coordinate actions with Ukraine and the United States to strengthen our engagement.

At the same time, we are preparing reliable security guarantees and measures for Ukraine’s reconstruction. Let us unite and build peace — for Ukraine, for Europe, for our collective security”, — Emmanuel Macron wrote.
