The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue efforts to strengthen the military in order to repel full-scale Russian aggression. One of the key areas is quality training.

This was emphasized by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, during the monthly meeting on improving the quality of training.

“The key point of our efforts is not hardware, but people. Mobilization, recruitment, new contracts—and, consequently, quality training. In personnel preparation, we cannot stand still; we must develop and move forward”, — Oleksandr Syrskyi said.

The duration of basic military training (BMT) has already been increased to 51 days. In addition, there is professional training and an adaptation period within the units. The demand of the time is to improve this process, enhance the level of instructors and the equipment of training centers, so that the outcome is a truly combat-ready soldier.

During the meeting, the Commander-in-Chief reviewed reports on improving training quality over the reporting period, the development of BMT in combat brigades, strengthening the safety of servicemen in training centers, the selection of instructors for the assault unit training center, and the initial adaptation of newcomers in training centers.

Oleksandr Syrskyi specifically noted the importance of implementing a comprehensive program for the adaptation of servicemen at the start of BMT, as a significant portion of combat skills is developed during this period. Unit representatives shared their experience working in this area.

“As a result of the audit, we have received feedback from all training centers on each of the ten BMT subjects. We clearly see the leaders that others should aim to match. We continue to move training further from the front line, assigning army corps to training grounds in central and western Ukraine”, — the Commander-in-Chief said.

At the same time, he emphasized that the construction and equipping of shelters at training centers require acceleration and urgent organizational decisions.

“At some facilities, the state of security provision is unsatisfactory! We have no right to take our servicemen’s safety lightly. I have issued the necessary orders to resolve these problem issues”, — the statement reads.
