Ukraine has hosted for the first time a meeting of the working group of the member states of the Demining Capabilities Coalition — an international platform that coordinates support for our country in combat and humanitarian demining.

This was reported by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine on 25 November.

The event was attended by 43 delegates from 14 countries and 4 international organizations.

Colonel Ruslan Berehula, Chief of the Main Department of Mine Action, Civil Protection, and Environmental Safety of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, emphasized that holding the meeting in Ukraine was of strategic importance.

The delegations had the opportunity to see the results of the Coalition’s activities directly at the sites where demining programs, personnel training, and logistical support are being implemented.

In addition, partners were presented with two Implementation Plans for developing demining capabilities for 2026 — for the State Special Transport Service and for the Support Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Participants of the meeting also discussed the supply and procurement of equipment for 2025–2026 and familiarized themselves with the capabilities of demining units of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

During the meeting, the parties noted that by the end of 2025 it is planned to establish initial capabilities — to train and equip with modern equipment 8 battalions, which will allow more than 450 teams to carry out demining tasks in extremely challenging combat conditions.

In addition, the following data were announced:

  • Nearly 3,990 people have undergone training with the support of the EU Military Assistance Mission to Ukraine, Tetra Tech (USA), Mriya Aid (Canada), and Spain;

  • Equipment worth more than €408 million has been provided by countries and partners: Germany, Lithuania, Denmark, Slovakia, Finland, Iceland, Tetra Tech (USA), the UN Office for Project Services (funded by the Netherlands), and Mriya Aid (Canada);

Equipment worth more than €111 million has been procured using contributions from Lithuania, Sweden, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, and Denmark: off-road vehicles, ambulances, demolition vehicles, personal anti-drone devices, night-vision devices, counter-drone systems, mine detectors, trucks, explosive ordnance disposal kits, armored personnel carriers, mine rollers, and much more.
