Ukraine honors the memory of the victims of the Holodomors — the genocide aimed at the deliberate destruction of the Ukrainian nation. Minister of Defense Denys Shmyhal emphasized that today the country once again confronts an attempt at annihilation, as modern Russia continues the methods of the Stalinist regime.
This was stated in a message by Ukraine’s Minister of Defense Denys Shmyhal.
PARALLELS IN HISTORY
The official underscored that the Stalinist regime used famine as an instrument to kill millions of Ukrainians.
“Today we once again stand against an attempt to destroy Ukraine and Ukrainians… Modern Russia continues methods of genocide against the Ukrainian people”, — Shmyhal noted.
THE FIGHT FOR A FREE FUTURE
The Minister expressed confidence in the state’s ability to endure and prevail in the war.
“But Ukrainians endured then — and will endure now. We are fighting on the battlefield, defending our own land, our country, and our right to live freely. The world sees this. And the world must not allow such tragedies to happen again in the future”, — the address says.
The head of the defense ministry honored the memory of all victims of the Holodomors.
