The equipment will strengthen the stability and protection of communications for Ukrainian units, including those on the frontline.

This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on 17 November.

The procurement will take place through the IT Coalition — an alliance of 17 partner countries that helps build modern digital infrastructure for the Ukrainian military.

“Reliable satellite communication enables service members to stay connected and operate high-tech systems, including drones. It is the foundation of combat effectiveness and saving lives.

We are grateful to Estonia and our partners in the IT Coalition for their consistent support, which directly reinforces our Defense Forces”, — said Oksana Ferchuk, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine for Digital Development, Digital Transformations and Digitalization.

This year, Estonia has already provided Ukraine with military and technological assistance amounting to about 0.3% of its GDP. The support includes training programs, equipment procurement and IT-solution development.

The IT Coalition is one of the capability coalitions within the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (“Ramstein” format). It supports the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine in IT, communications and cybersecurity.

The coalition currently includes Belgium, Denmark, Ireland, Iceland, Spain, Italy, Canada, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom, Finland, Sweden and Japan. The coalition leaders are Estonia and Luxembourg.
