President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the first results of new international sanctions targeting Russia’s military-industrial complex and energy sector.
He reported this on his social media on Thursday, October 30, following a meeting with the Head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, Oleh Ivashchenko.
“There are the first detailed assessments from intelligence regarding the impact of new partner sanctions on Russia’s war machine. A lot of information — and based on this, we will adjust our communication with partners in preparing new sanctions. We are recording significant losses for Russia from the already imposed restrictions on oil companies and expect that, if principled and consistent pressure on Moscow continues, their losses from the recently imposed restrictions alone will amount to at least $50 billion per year”, — the Head of State said.
At the same time, the Ukrainian leader added that there will be even more sanction measures from Ukraine’s partners, as indicated by the “relevant signals” already being received.
“A regular data exchange has also been established with key countries regarding Russian individuals and schemes that deserve to be sanctioned, and a significant portion of our proposals are being taken into account by partners. I am grateful for this. Measures concerning the Russian tanker fleet, which we discussed with European leaders at last week’s meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, must also be fully implemented”, — the statement reads.
In addition, the Head of the Foreign Intelligence Service briefed the President on the position and upcoming plans of China’s leadership in the context of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
“It is important that China joins the efforts aimed at stopping Russia’s ongoing attempts to expand and prolong the war. Appropriate instructions will be given to our diplomats based on the information from the meetings that took place in the region in recent days”, — Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.
