The Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, met with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte to discuss the PURL initiative and the Alliance’s new role in the work of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG).
The Minister of Defense of Ukraine reported this on his social media accounts.
The Minister specifically thanked NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte for his determination in strengthening Ukraine’s defense. The Alliance is assuming a new coordinating role within the Contact Group’s activities.
“The PURL initiative is working — it provides us with the defense capabilities critically needed to protect our cities and hold the front. More air defense. More interceptors. More long-range systems”, — said Denys Shmyhal.
More than half of the UDCG member states have already joined PURL. This represents the highest level of partner support and unity around the initiative.
“We thank all our allies for their assistance. Our message to Russia is clear: our unity cannot be broken”, — reads the statement by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine.
