President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented the Order “For Courage” (2nd Class) to Senior Sergeant Dmytro Pohrebak, a sniper of the “Revenge” Brigade, who, during fierce fighting, continued to battle and cover his comrades after sustaining a gunshot wound to the leg.
This was reported on the page of the 3rd Border Detachment named after Hero of Ukraine Colonel Yevhenii Pikus.
Since January 2024, Senior Sergeant Dmytro Pohrebak has been taking part in combat operations in Donetsk and Kharkiv regions, carrying out missions in the hottest areas of the front — Ivanivske, Pershotravneve, Serebrianka, and the Kupiansk direction.
“On January 29, 2025, during intense fighting in the area of the village of Pishchane, Dmytro, together with a comrade, held their position while repelling numerous enemy assaults. As a result of enemy small arms fire, he sustained a gunshot wound to the leg”, – the statement reads.
“Despite this, he continued to fight, covered his comrades, corrected fire, and inflicted losses on the enemy. Thanks to his courage and resilience, the enemy suffered significant losses and retreated”, – the unit emphasized.
The award was presented “for personal courage and dedication demonstrated in the defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and on the occasion of the Day of Defenders of Ukraine.”
