He published his post on the occasion of the holiday on Wednesday, October 1, on his social media.

“Today in Ukraine is the Day of Defenders. The day of those who protect their native home. Those who defend our lives and dreams. Thanks to your courage and bravery, the past is preserved, the present exists, and the future is possible. You are role models for our children and true heroes. I wish you strength and endurance on the path to lasting and just peace”, – the head of the Ministry of Defense wrote.

He then expressed gratitude to everyone who defends the country under conditions of Russian aggression for their daily work in restraining the enemy.

In addition, Denys Shmyhal also mentioned those who gave their lives defending Ukraine, as well as those currently held in enemy captivity.

“We remember those who are in captivity and fight for their return. We thank the families of servicemen who provide support and share their strength every day. We bow our heads before those who gave their lives for what is most important. The army defends Ukraine. Ukraine defends what is most precious. Glory to the defenders of Ukraine!” – the minister added.
