“It is on such officers that the army stands today,” — says a senior sergeant about 26-year-old HAWK battery commander Nazar. After a severe injury, the officer returned to duty immediately, as soon as he was able to stand on crutches.

His story of courage and leadership was shared on the page of the Air Command “South.”

Nazar graduated from the Kharkiv National Air Force University in 2021. He met the full-scale invasion in Berdyansk, where, together with his comrades, he moved equipment out from under enemy strikes. In the summer of 2022, he fought in Donetsk region, where he shot down enemy targets.

During the repulsion of another attack, he sustained a severe wound.

“Ahead of me was treatment and a long rehabilitation. But for me, only one thing mattered — to return as quickly as possible. So as soon as I was able to stand on crutches — I immediately came back to the ranks,” — Nazar recalls.

In 2024, he completed training abroad and took command of a HAWK battery. Today, Nazar leads a young, cohesive, and determined unit that values him not only as an officer but also as a person.

“He is young, but an exceptionally wise and fair leader. He knows how to organize work so that everyone knows their place and their task,” — says the sergeant about him.

For his comrades, Nazar has become an example that even after severe losses and trials, one can endure — and lead others forward.
