Law enforcement officers detained a military serviceman who promised, in exchange for a bribe, to remove citizens from military records and take them off the wanted list.

This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

According to the investigation, the suspect organized a scheme to obtain unlawful benefits by influencing the decisions of officials at territorial recruitment and social support centers. The scheme involved removing citizens from military records and taking them off the wanted list.

In August this year, he received the first part of the funds in the amount of $3,000. During the transfer of the next part – $32,000 – law enforcement officers detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

As part of the criminal proceedings, other persons involved in the illegal scheme are being investigated and identified.

Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors from the Office of the Prosecutor General, a military serviceman was detained and notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (obtaining unlawful benefits for himself or a third party for influencing the decision-making of a person authorized to perform state or local self-government functions, combined with extortion of such benefits).

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Main Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General, with operational support from the Internal Security Department of the National Police of Ukraine.
