The 1st Separate Medical Battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine provides medical coverage for a front line stretching approximately 100 kilometers.
This was stated by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine General Oleksandr Syrskyi on January 7.
According to him, preserving the life of a Ukrainian soldier has been and remains an unconditional priority for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Guided by this principle, a year ago I signed the decision to establish the 1st Separate Medical Battalion within the Armed Forces”, — he noted.
Over this time, the unit completed its full formation cycle — from personnel recruitment and training to deployment in the combat zone and systematic frontline operations.
“Thanks to an effective recruitment campaign, the unit has achieved full staffing in key medical specialties and today provides medical coverage for a front line of about 100 kilometers”, — the Commander-in-Chief reported.
He met with the unit’s leadership, summarized interim results, discussed scaling successful practices, and identified directions for the development of medical support in combat zones.
Special attention was paid to the use of unmanned ground robotic systems for evacuating wounded soldiers from the battlefield. In this area, the unit is among the leaders within the Armed Forces.
General Syrskyi also highlighted the work of forward surgical teams and presented well-deserved awards to battalion servicemembers.
“I once again express my gratitude to the personnel of the First Medical Battalion and to all our medics for their professionalism and dedication. For the lives saved and the health preserved of Ukrainian defenders”, — he wrote.
