Representatives of the NATO–Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training and Education Center (JATEC) took part in the final phase of the NATO exercise Loyal Dolos 2025 to assess the combat capabilities of an Alliance unit.
This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on December 24.
It is noted that lessons learned from Russia’s war against Ukraine were integrated into the scenario to prepare troops for conducting combat operations in rapidly changing conditions.
The Ministry of Defense emphasized that Ukrainian experts were directly involved in NATO exercises of this type for the first time.
“The participation of Ukrainian JATEC experts in the LOYAL DOLOS 2025 exercises, which are one of the key elements of NATO training under Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty, is of strategic importance for us, as for the first time representatives of Ukraine were involved in practicing the Alliance’s collective security mechanisms”, — stressed Ukraine’s Senior National Representative to JATEC, Director for Program Implementation of the NATO–Ukraine Joint Center, Colonel Valerii Vyshnivskyi.
According to him, this contributed to the recognition by the North Atlantic Council of Ukraine as one of the most experienced participants in the regional security system and to an understanding of the importance of interaction with Ukraine’s security and defense forces.
The Ministry of Defense stated that about 1,500 military personnel and civilian specialists in various locations across Europe worked together to assess the capabilities of one of NATO’s rapid deployment corps as a combat army unit of the Alliance.
“The control group that directed the event from the Joint Force Training Center in Bydgoszcz (Poland) ensured the comprehensive and realistic nature of the exercise”, — the statement said.
The LOYAL DOLOS exercises were designed to improve and test the Alliance’s ability to operate cohesively across several domains simultaneously.
“LOYAL DOLOS 2025, which became the flagship event of NATO’s training program this year, focused on land operations with the integration of other domains. This corresponds to NATO’s strategy to build more interconnected and adaptive forces”, — the Ministry of Defense added.
