Units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine struck infrastructure at the Aviastar aircraft manufacturing plant in Russia’s Ulyanovsk region.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on March 18.
The enterprise is part of the United Aircraft Corporation (a Rostec structure) and produces Il-76MD-90A military transport aircraft, Il-78M-90A tanker aircraft, and services heavy transport aircraft such as the An-124 “Ruslan”.
According to preliminary information, a climate-controlled shelter and aircraft parking areas were hit. Some aircraft on the premises sustained varying degrees of damage.
The scale of the damage is being clarified.
“The Defense Forces of Ukraine will continue to strike important strategic facilities involved in supporting the Russian army until the complete cessation of armed aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine”, — the General Staff stated.
