“My daughter is six — I want her to live in a free Ukraine”: Archer self-propelled artillery gunner on her motivation to serve
Alina works with the Archer self-propelled artillery system. She is incredibly eager to absorb new knowledge and master such high-tech equipment.
Her story was published on the Facebook page of the 43rd Separate Artillery Brigade named after Hetman Taras Triasylo.
“My daughter is six. When I made the decision to sign a contract, only one thought was in my head: she must live in a free Ukraine. This is my main motivation. I use every opportunity, every free hour, to go see her, hug her, and remind myself whom I’m doing this for”, — she says.
According to her, difficulties always exist. The army is no walk in the park. But she wasn’t looking for an easy path — she was looking for good commanders, and she found them.
“I used to be a hairdresser-stylist. Clients still call, ask to book appointments, they don’t want to let their master go. But now I give haircuts to the guys here, at our positions. Now they’re always handsome”, — she says.
Her military path began with UAVs. She served with Vampire drones. She worked as a loader and as a navigator. Each role is fascinating in its own way, but in this brigade she felt maximum comfort. Her expectations were fully met.
“I realized the main thing: artillery is mine. Now I work with the Archer self-propelled system. I’m incredibly interested in absorbing new knowledge and mastering such high-tech equipment. It’s a completely different level of responsibility”, — Alina says.
Now she has a new goal — to become a gun commander. She is surrounded by a humane and cohesive team.
“When you feel the reliable shoulder of your brother-in-arms, it becomes clear: we are in the right place. We stand for our children and for our land”, — she concluded.
