In the area of responsibility of the “Burevii” Brigade in the Kupiansk direction, the occupiers hardly dare to use their equipment, as they have very little of

This was achieved by creating a kill zone extending several dozen kilometers deep into enemy lines.

The information was shared in an exclusive commentary to ArmiaInform by Lieutenant Colonel Andrii Koval, commander of the “Kondor” drone systems battalion of the First Presidential Brigade “Burevii” of the 1st Corps “Azov” of the National Guard of Ukraine.

“We do not disclose the exact strike depth, but in our direction a so-called kill zone has already been created — several dozen kilometers deep. This is a space where any movement of enemy equipment or personnel becomes almost impossible because we push the enemy back dozens of kilometers”, — he said.

The military continues to expand the kill zone using a comprehensive approach.

The officer listed its main components:

  • reconnaissance drones for detecting targets at long distances;

  • fiber-optic drones that bypass enemy EW and radio-horizon limits;

  • bomber drones (Vampire, Heavyshot), effective for dismantling enemy shelters when distance allows so enemy pilots cannot expand their own kill zone.

One effect of expanding the kill zone is the destruction of enemy artillery — both during movement and at firing positions.

“Thanks to round-the-clock work of reconnaissance aircraft, we detect the beginning of any movements (for example, if the enemy prepares assault actions or tries to position artillery closer). We respond quickly: catch equipment during movement or locate camouflaged positions. It is nearly impossible for the enemy to hide from aerial reconnaissance now, so there is very little enemy equipment in our sector”, — the soldier added.

To destroy enemy personnel, weapons, and equipment, Ukrainian defenders use the full range of available weaponry depending on the mission.

“The choice of tool depends on the situation and radio-horizon:

  • FPV-kamikaze drones work on moving targets (infantry, equipment) when signal conditions allow;

  • fiber-optic drones are irreplaceable when radio signal will be suppressed;

  • heavy bombers are used mainly against static targets and are ideal for destroying enemy positions and shelters”, — explained Lt. Col. Koval.

He emphasized that thanks to the effective work of Ukrainian drone operators, there is now very little enemy equipment left in the sector.

“Only last year, more than 1,500 enemy shelters and positions were destroyed in our direction. Due to this density of control, there is currently little enemy equipment in our area”, — he summarized.
