Ukraine’s defense industry now covers over 50% of the needs of the Defense Forces and is moving toward joint production with Europe.

This was reported on the website of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

During the full-scale war, Ukraine’s defense-industrial complex demonstrated unprecedented growth: production capacity increased 50-fold — up to $50 billion.

Thanks to this, domestic manufacturers already supply more than half of the Defense Forces’ weaponry needs.

This was stated by Hanna Hvozdiar, adviser to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, during the discussion “European Industrial Deterrence: Lessons and Conclusions Directly from Ukraine and Europe” at the Munich Security Conference, where this year’s main focus was political negotiations on a new security architecture for Europe and Ukraine’s role in shaping it.

It is noted that Ukrainian defense companies concluded several agreements at the conference on joint production of reconnaissance UAVs, medium-range strike drones, multirotor drones, and unmanned ground systems.

“Ukraine has already proven that it can rapidly scale defense production even during a full-scale war. We are becoming a reliable partner helping Europe build a new defense system — including through joint production — to strengthen both our capabilities and those of our partners”, — said Hanna Hvozdiar.

Partners could see the potential of Ukraine’s defense industry at the Ukrainian House, temporarily moved from Davos to Munich for the duration of the conference. The Zbroya exhibition showcased models and prototypes of modern Ukrainian weapons, particularly drones. Special attention was drawn to an exhibit dedicated to countering Shahed-type drones.
