Representatives of the Main Directorate for Mine Action, Civil Protection and Environmental Safety took part in the key European conference Combat Engineering

This major NATO defense event gathered top experts, military engineers, logisticians, defense industry representatives, and international organizations.

During the conference, Colonel Oleh Shuvarskyi presented Ukraine’s challenges and solutions in mine action, modern warfare requirements, resource priorities, and risk mitigation related to explosive threats — as well as boosting operational efficiency through training and capability development.

“The enemy actively uses modern remote mining systems, and we clearly understand their tactical logic. These actions aim to disrupt maneuver, block logistics routes, and create zones of guaranteed fire damage. For us, this means one thing: we must stay a step ahead”, — Shuvarskyi said.

NATO representatives showed interest in Ukraine’s innovative approaches to countering the mine threat, including integration of mine-action information systems with the DELTA combat system and the capabilities of the UTTC training-testing complex.

Discussions also focused on the advantages and limitations of mechanized demining systems, drones, ground robotic complexes, spectral analysis equipment, and mine-detection dogs.
