NATO Secretary General: Russia has very minor gains amid heavy losses
Russian occupation forces do not have significant gains in Ukraine and are suffering extremely heavy losses.
This was stated by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte before a meeting with Ukraine’s Minister of Defence Mykhailo Fedorov in Brussels.
“The Russians are achieving only very minor gains. These are very minor gains amid huge losses. Up to 30,000 Russians have been killed — not wounded, but killed — in the past few months. These are incredible numbers, and it means that Ukraine is really continuing the fight”, — he said.
Mark Rutte recalled that last week he visited Kyiv and saw the destruction of one of the thermal power plants, which left 1,100 Kyiv apartment buildings — about a quarter of a million people — without heating.
“This is what the Russians are trying to do. They strike innocent civilians and civilian infrastructure for no reason other than to create fear and chaos. But the Ukrainian people cannot be broken. I saw this last week. I again met soldiers and saw in their eyes the determination and perseverance to continue fighting against the Russians”, — he said.
Rutte noted that from the first meeting with Mykhailo Fedorov in Kyiv he was very impressed with how defence and technological innovation necessary for a major war are combined.
“I told Mykhailo that NATO will continue to support Ukraine in training, weapons supply, and ensuring that we learn all the lessons. And, of course, NATO members work daily to ensure that security guarantees are as strong as possible after, hopefully, a swift conclusion of a long-term ceasefire or, better yet, a peace agreement”, — the NATO Secretary General said.
