In the Pokrovsk direction, a group of pilots from the Mirage strike UAV unit captured a Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group.
This was reported by the Air Force Command.
Mirage is part of the Composite Rifle Brigade of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The defenders of the skies were performing a planned reconnaissance mission of enemy positions in the Donetsk region when they were unexpectedly attacked by Russian special-forces operators.
The enemy managed to seize one of Ukraine’s UAV operators by surprise, but his comrades quickly reacted and fought back. The battle lasted only a few minutes. Ukrainian forces not only rescued their colleague but also captured the Russians alive.
“The situation is truly extraordinary! Nothing like this has happened before: Air Force UAV pilots capturing Russians in open combat. I’m proud of my guys! They acted very clearly, cohesively, and — most importantly — quickly and bravely. In such situations, every second matters. They are an example for the entire brigade!” — said Nazar, call sign “Coach”, commander of Mirage.
During the engagement, aerial reconnaissance from adjacent units and operational communication were successfully used, allowing Mirage fighters to quickly track down the enemy group and neutralize it without losses.
The captives are already giving testimony to Ukrainian security agencies.
