An enemy unmanned ground vehicle with an unusual payload was destroyed in the Kupiansk direction by soldiers of the motorized infantry battalion of the 14th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Roman the Great.
Previously, the enemy often attempted to deliver ammunition, fuel, food, and water using ground drones — both wheeled and tracked. This time, however, the Russian UGV was carrying an unusual load — a 120 mm mortar.
Major Nadiia Zamryha, head of the communications department of the 14th Brigade, told ArmyInform about this in an exclusive comment.
“It was strictly a logistical mission. The tracked ground drone was transporting a mortar in a disassembled form for later installation at a position. The enemy tried to camouflage the UGV, but it didn’t help — our reconnaissance detected the drone from the air. After that, it was destroyed using an FPV drone”, — she said.
Judging from the video, the enemy ground robotic complex was spotted, among other things, thanks to the wide track marks it left on the shallow snow.
The equipment used by the Russians was quite powerful, as a 120 mm mortar weighs about two hundred kilograms.
“Our brigade had previously destroyed various UGVs that the enemy uses for logistics. The Russians try to deliver ammunition, fuel, and food with them. These drones can be wheeled or tracked, as in this case. However, this is probably one of the most powerful drones our fighters have destroyed, because a 120 mm mortar does not weigh five kilograms”, — the officer explained.
However, the machine’s power was evidently insufficient to also transport mortar shells, as the video shows no secondary detonation.
Also, judging by everything, the Russian drone’s engine was electric, because no fuel ignition occurred after the explosion.
Over the past day, units of the Unmanned Systems Forces grouping struck or destroyed 1,209 enemy targets.
Drone units of the Joint Forces’ Iron Brigade are continuously destroying enemy UAVs (“chortolyoty”) and personnel.
On the night of March 20, the enemy attacked with 156 strike UAVs, including Shahed-type drones, “Gerbera”, “Italmas”, and other types.
Over the past day, Russian occupation forces lost 1,610 personnel on the battlefield.
A UAV operator of the “Typhoon” unmanned systems unit with the callsign “Nimets” can strike the enemy even blindly.
The first cycle of testing, evaluation, verification, and validation of unmanned aerial systems took place at NATO’s innovation range for unmanned systems.
