Canada will supply Ukraine with AIM missiles to strengthen air defense and counter cruise missiles.
This was reported by the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense on February 6.
It is noted that the weapons are already in the process of being transferred to Ukraine.
The issue of continued defense support was discussed during a meeting between Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov and Canadian Minister of National Defense David McGuinty. The Ukrainian side thanked Canada for its consistent and effective assistance.
“Canada’s contribution to the PURL initiative was especially noted. Recent contributions under the program were crucial for repelling massive enemy air attacks. Ukraine hopes for continued PURL support throughout this year”, — the statement reads.
The parties also discussed an agreement on facilitating drone production.
“The countries have significant prospects for industrial cooperation between Ukrainian and Canadian governments and companies. Ukraine, in particular, is interested in cooperation with Canadian companies in the field of drone management”, — the Ministry of Defense reported.
Another important area of cooperation remains the training of Ukrainian servicemen, particularly with a focus on preserving life.
The parties discussed the transformation of the training system, including a shift to a model where the best specialists train others, and training centers are gradually moved underground for increased safety.
