First Deputy Prime Minister — Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal together with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte visited today one of Kyiv’s combined heat and power plants attacked by Russia last night.

This was reported by Denys Shmyhal.

“Mr. Rutte was shown the horrific consequences of today’s attack. The enemy launched a missile strike on an energy facility that supplies heat to the city’s residents”, — Shmyhal said.

Together with Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, he emphasized that this strike was deliberate — at the moment when temperatures had dropped to –25°C. This crime must receive proper assessment.

During the conversation with Mr. Rutte, the Ukrainian side stressed the importance of strengthening the protection of heat and power supply facilities, including air-defence systems and missiles for them.

They also discussed cooperation in countering cyber threats in the energy sector and sharing expertise.

“We must work together because Russia continues to wage hybrid warfare even against NATO members. We thank Mark Rutte for his solidarity and deep involvement in supporting Ukraine”, — Shmyhal summed up.
