“They’ve Been Stuck at Vovchansk, With All Our ‘Nanotechnologies’”: Intelligence Intercepts Disappointment Among Russian Population
Russians are increasingly openly expressing dissatisfaction with the course of hostilities, including prolonged battles for Vovchansk and the complete lack of results by occupation forces in this direction.
Intercepted audio was published on February 2 by the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The latest interception describes fear and disorientation among Russian civilians, as well as open disappointment with the results of the so-called “special military operation”.
“Oh, tonight was so terrifying, at half past one something exploded. I just jumped up from the couch while lying down. We’re not living, we’re merely existing. Just ‘existing’”, — a local resident says.
The Russian population is heavily influenced by propaganda — people seriously believe in myths about “ten thousand mercenaries” near Vovchansk who are allegedly preparing to advance on Russia.
“You know what they’re gathering there. That there are 10,000 mercenaries or Ukrainians. You know they’re gathering — why don’t you … them?” — the interlocutor says.
Residents of Russia are disappointed by the prolonged battles for Vovchansk and the complete lack of progress.
“I read yesterday that they have been trying to take Vovchansk since May 2024. A year and a half, a year and a half they’ve been stuck at Vovchansk, with all our ‘nanotechnologies’, with everything in the world”, — she wonders.
