Forty-five percent of cadets at the Military Institute of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv are women service members.

This was reported to ArmyInform by Colonel Oleksandr Ostapenko, Head of the Department of Financial Support of Troops of the Faculty of Support and Journalism of the Military Institute of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

“If we talk about the gender ratio of cadets, then at present women service members among the cadet corps at the institute account for 45%”, — he said.

Oleksandr Ostapenko spoke about a case when one of the girls, having enrolled in a civilian university and paid for the first semester of studies, changed her mind and enrolled in the Military Institute.

“Even during the 2025 admissions campaign, we had cases when people who enrolled in a civilian educational institution, paid for the first semester, learned about the Military Institute — submitted documents to us, enrolled, and withdrew from there. Incidentally, it was the specialty ‘Finance, Banking, Insurance and Stock Market’, and it was a girl”, — he noted.

Oleksandr Ostapenko added:

“The advantage of the Military Institute is also that, in addition to high-quality professional training, it helps create families. We have many families where both spouses are our graduates: both financiers, or, for example, the husband is a financier and the wife is a psychologist (smiles)”.
