Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, took part in a Ukraine–NATO Council meeting at the level of commanders-in-chief, held via video conference.
He reported this on his page on January 22.
In his address to Alliance colleagues, Oleksandr Syrskyi spoke about the operational situation at the front, which remains difficult.
The Commander-in-Chief emphasized that despite peace initiatives and all partner efforts, Moscow is not abandoning its aggressive war or its main strategic goal — the destruction of Ukrainian statehood.
To continue the war against Ukraine, Russia is using a combined troop grouping totaling more than 715,000 personnel.
Russia also continues missile and air strikes against critical economic facilities, primarily the energy sector, trying to influence Ukrainians in the rear through darkness and cold.
“I informed NATO colleagues that the most critical need for Ukraine is strengthening the air shield. A significant deficit in air defense assets does not allow us to fully protect the civilian population and critical infrastructure facilities”, — the Commander-in-Chief stated.
Oleksandr Syrskyi also presented meeting participants with a specific list of the Defense Forces’ needs.
“I expressed deep gratitude to our partners for their consistent support of our state in confronting a superior adversary.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine value all instruments of cooperation with the North Atlantic Alliance that are currently available”, — the Commander-in-Chief said.
According to him, NATO colleagues expressed readiness to continue supporting Ukraine.
“I emphasized that our top priority must remain creating conditions for a just peace by strengthening our military capabilities. Taking this opportunity, I invited the NATO Military Committee to visit Ukraine this year”, — Oleksandr Syrskyi emphasized.

The first cycle of testing, evaluation, verification, and validation of unmanned aerial systems took place at NATO’s innovation range for unmanned systems.
